Policies
- Code of Conduct:
All members of the community are to be treated with respect and dignity and are expected to use non-violent means to resolve conflicts.
All staff members and students are expected to respect and care for the school property. Students are required to respect their peers and their belongings. They have a duty towards their schoolwork and are expected to fulfill it. School rules are to be abided by all students. Parents play an important role in the assurance that their children follow the school’s code of conduct.
- Complaint Policy:
If any parent has a query or complaint, they are more than welcome to contact the parent guidance officer (PGO), e-mail the team leader, or schedule a meeting with the school principal.
- Health & Safety Policy:
RISE acknowledges and accepts that the health, safety, and welfare of all students, staff, parents, and service providers is of paramount importance. There are specialized teams of technicians and workmen in charge of the maintenance of all the equipment at school.
The school has two clinics furnished to accommodate any mild emergencies. There is also an isolation room in case it is needed.
- Uniform Policy:
It is our policy that all children should wear their school uniform inside and outside school, or when participating in school-organized events outside regular school hours unless otherwise announced by the school administration. All staff members will ensure the implementation of the school uniform policy. Our students will be expected to adhere to this policy starting the first school day. P.E. uniform should be worn only on days with the scheduled P.E. classes. Graduating seniors will be allowed to either wear their senior uniforms or the regular school uniform. We believe this promotes a positive school image, helps to remove distractions, and keeps students focused on learning. We take pride in how our students dress.
- Professional Development:
RISE is a “learning community” and is committed to providing opportunities for the continuing learning and development of its entire staff. Professional development is how the school can deliver whole school, team, and individual development priorities. Teachers are given training courses at the beginning of every academic year, refresher courses throughout the year, and ongoing assessments. Any problems met are dealt with immediately to ensure that the best quality education is provided for our students.
Teachers also share experiences through weekly meetings held with their heads and colleagues.
- Language Policy:
The main language of communication throughout the school is English. We aim for all our learners to become confident active listeners, speakers, readers, and writers with a capacity to express themselves through a variety of different literary and day-to-day activities. We have incorporated the CIE Framework into all our literacy planning across the school.
In addition to that our school has the option of learning French or German languages as a second language.
- Before and after school daycare:
The school day starts at 7:45 and ends at 2:30 pm. The school provides adult supervision starting at 7:30 am which is the earliest we can allow our students into the school campus. The school also provides supervision after the school day ends until 3:30 which is the latest our students may be allowed to stay on the school premises.
- Parent-Teacher association:
The parent-teacher association (PTA) is a vital part of the school community at RISE. The association members collaborate with the staff to solve any problems their children may have and to ensure that both home and school are on the same platform.
- School council:
Starting from KS 2, we develop a culture where all our pupils have a voice and can play an active role in decisions that affect their learning and well-being, as set out in Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Our active school council is one essential aspect of our approach to pupil participation, and we recognize the benefits of increased self-confidence and a greater sense of responsibility that pupil participation brings.
The council benefits our whole school by providing opportunities for the students to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made and is an important way for RISE to develop leadership traits in our students.
It is a government ………… of the students.
………… for the students
………….by the students!
- Community involvement:
We believe in providing a caring school community for all students. Our community outreach programs teach children the value of being part of the wider global community.
At RISE we want our students to recognize the importance of being involved in the community. We encourage students to think about their place in the world and how they can be responsible global citizens.
Community service projects such as helping orphans and visiting hospitals will be part of the projects throughout the year. Students will collect toys and clothing to donate to those in need.
RISE supports the following charities and takes part in their activities.
- The Egyptian Food Bank
- Hospitals like the children’s cancer hospital (57357)
- Orphanages and Organizations caring for orphans.
We encourage students and parents to share their suggestions for working with other charities and non-profit organizations so we can increase our presence in both the local and global community.
Further details on all our policies are available in the school handbook.
